Dunrich Ltd was started by Glen and Anne Richards in May 2000 when they spotted an opportunity to supply high quality bean bags and bead products to wholesale customers. An Ebay outlet was established so that Dunrich could sell childrens, adults and extra large beanbags to the public. Matching, pouffes and footstools were added to the product range helping make Dunrich a versatile soft furnishings manufacturer.
With the success of their bean filled soft furnishings, the company added cushions and cushion covers to the product range for both wholesale and retail. Cushion inner pads made by Dunrich use the same quality material that some competitors use for the finished cushion covers. This has proven popular with wholesale customers. Coupled with reliable delivery and lead times the business grew quickly and developed a reputation for excellent service.
Anne’s daughter – Helen had always helped out with the family business around her first passion as a Learning Disability Nurse. After a 15 year career in caring, in 2016 she took the plunge to change her career and work for the family business full time.
Helen partnered with her friend and Dunrich Employee Joanne, buying in to the business.
Joanne has worked in the trade for approximately 30 years. From clothing to bespoke covers. She has a passion for all things textiles and learning how to creating things from them. Having recently gained skills in upholstery she loves helping turn customers ideas into a reality – making sure they get the highest quality products. Since starting work for Dunrich Jo knew there was an opportunity to buy into it once the current owners retired. Since Jo and Helen were friends before the business it gave them a solid start to a new partnership in business.
Throughout the ups and downs Jo and Helen have grown the business in a direction they envisaged together. Whilst Helen works tirelessly in the front on sales and production, Joanne works hard behind the scenes, managing the manufacturing process and helping bring customers visions to life.
In July 2019 Dunrich Ltd moved to Crown Stores, Swadlincote. The new premises includes more space for wholesale production and a beautiful shop front for retail sales.
Today Helen and Joanne continue to move the business forward with the introduction of new wholesale cushions and covers and white label soft furnishings manufacturing services.
